What are Etsy tags?

A useful tag matches the item accurately. Adding unrelated phrases because they sound popular makes the listing less useful to the people who find it, which is the opposite of what tags are for.

Should you use long-tail Etsy tags?
Longer, more specific phrases help when they clearly describe what a shopper wants. Compare moon necklace with necklace: the first says considerably more about the item.
More words are not automatically better, though. A phrase still has to fit the product and stay inside the 20-character limit. Aim for a mix that describes the item naturally rather than forcing every slot to hold a long phrase.
Will better tags guarantee Etsy sales?
No. Tags are one part of Etsy SEO, and Etsy SEO is one part of a listing.
The usefulness of the product, the quality of the listing, photography, pricing, customer experience, competition and demand all affect how a shop performs. No third-party tool can see or control those.

Does the tool use live Etsy search data?
No. The relevance and diversity scores are calculated locally from the product details you provide. They are not Etsy search-volume statistics, competition counts or sales estimates. If a verified external data provider is ever connected, any data-based feature will be labelled as such.
Should I use every tag the generator suggests?
No. Treat the suggestions as ideas. Choose only the phrases that accurately describe the actual product, and drop the rest.
Can I edit generated tags?
Yes. Every selected tag can be edited in place, removed, locked, replaced with an alternative, or reordered. You can also run another enhancement round while keeping your locked tags.
Why are some suggestions removed?
The tool filters out duplicate phrases, phrases containing words you asked to avoid, and anything longer than 20 characters. It also drops phrases that only reshuffle the words of a suggestion already in the list.
Should I repeat the same keyword in many tags?
Some natural overlap is fine. Filling most slots with near-identical phrases narrows the range of search language your set represents. The diversity score exists to make that repetition visible.
Does this tool guarantee higher Etsy rankings?
