If a link will not work
Each of these maps to a real state the tool can produce, so the fix is the one that actually works.
The link is rejected as not a document
Why: The address points at a search page, a category or a profile rather than a single item.
Fix: Open the document itself so you can see its pages, then copy the address from the address bar. A usable link always contains a long number.
A shortened link will not work
Why: The host is the shortener, not Scribd, and the destination is hidden until it is followed.
Fix: Open the short link in your browser, wait for it to land on the real page, then copy the address it settles on.
The document is recognised but there is no download
Why: The link is fine. Either it is subscription content, the document is private, or the uploader has downloads switched off.
Fix: Read the reason on the result card — it names which applies. The preview often shows what you needed without a file at all.
The Paste button does nothing
Why: Some browsers refuse to let a page read the clipboard. Firefox and private-browsing modes are the usual cases.
Fix: Paste manually with Ctrl+V, or Cmd+V on a Mac. On a phone, long-press the field and choose Paste.
Too many requests
Why: Requests are limited per visitor so the service stays responsive for everyone.
Fix: Wait about a minute and try again. Nothing is wrong with your link, and retrying sooner will not help.
The title looks wrong or generic
Why: Public details could not be read, so the title was built from the link itself.
Fix: Nothing to fix — the card labels this. It usually means the document is not publicly visible.
